We have added new dept transport locations to the Transport for the website. You can now access them from the ‘Services area’ page in the top menu bar. These include:
- Howick Service Centre, 160 Manukau Road, Howick (open Monday – Friday 8 am-5 pm)
- Te Awamutu Service Centre, 519 Main Street Te Awamutu (open Monday – Friday 8 am-5 pm)
At these new dept transport locations, you can get roadworthy inspections, register a vehicle or light trailer, renew a license, or transfer registration.
Roadworthy Inspections: You can now get your vehicle inspected at any of our Service Centres. Roads and Maritime Services staff will check that your vehicle complies with all safety standards and regulations including brakes, lights, tires, and steering. If your vehicle passes the inspection, you’ll receive a certificate to display on the windscreen of your car for 12 months.
Vehicle Registration: You can now register an unregistered vehicle at any of our Service Centres where there is a Roads and Maritime Services Customer Service Centre as well as an RMS Registration Office (excluding Byford). All vehicles must be registered within seven days of purchase or importation into NSW before they may be driven on public roads in NSW.
License Renewals: The Department of Transport has opened new Driver Licence Application Offices in Lismore, Dubbo, and Tweed Head South that offer customers extended operating hours from Monday to Friday from 8 am until 5 pm (except public holidays) making it easier for customers to get their driver license renewed without having to take time off work or wait in long queues at other centers around NSW during peak periods such as weekends when demand is highest.
